What is the FSSAI?
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is a statutory organization under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. It was established on 1st November, 2010 to take up food safety issues and promote food safety standards. The FSSAI has been set up with the aim of protecting the public from unsafe, adulterated or hazardous foods and to regulate their sale, manufacture and distribution.

The FSSAI plays a vital role in protecting the health of citizens by ensuring that all food sold in India is safe for consumption. This ensures that people are not exposed to harmful chemicals or adulterants in their food items which could lead to serious diseases like cancer or heart disease. The FSSAI also ensures that all manufacturers adhere to strict standards when manufacturing their products so that they do not contain anything harmful for human consumption.
The Benefits of Applying for a FSSAI License

A license issued by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) – This license is issued after an applicant submits a prescribed form along with the required fee. It allows the holder to manufacture or process food items or raw materials under specified conditions.
A license issued by a state government – This license allows the holder to sell or distribute food items in his/her state only. The apply online FSSAI food license only if no other state government has issued such license to him/her within six months prior to issuance of this one.
How to apply online FSSAI food license in 3 Simple Steps
1. Go to the FSSAI website, www.fsai.nic.in and register yourself with your basic details like name, date of birth, gender and residential address. You will be asked to upload a scanned copy of your passport size photo, Aadhar card and PAN card.
2. After registering yourself, you need to upload your photograph in JPEG format along with your Aadhar card/Passport size photo and PAN card as per the company norms.
3. After uploading all the required documents, submit an online application form with all the required documents mentioned above through an online portal or by post.
